Post subject: Basic question
Dear Friends:

Sorry if I ask this question, but i am really a newbie on this CMS Stuff.

I wonder what should I do to have a site Jsut like this one, I recently obtain for a friend some hosting and it have FANTASTICO, the script that installs Post Nuke, and I really want to work with It, I saw PHP Nuke and it´s points system, but as people says, PN is better with permissions and groups, so as my students increase points, I would like them increase levels and access diferent levels in my site.

I am teaching Traffic safety at this moments for kids, and for every activity, comment or stuff they do at the site I would like to give them points, and as in this site this is great.

I was wondering if anyone can refeer me to some one who have the time and patience to guide me true the isntalation process. Everything on this site can work perfect, the Adv Profile, the Groups, etc, etc, even the paypal, so I can see if my students pay their quotes (1USD a week) so I like to learn how to install every single Block or script.

It is a little bit harder to me the english languaje, But I wil try as hard as I can, and the other little problem is that Never in my life I program anything (except microwave´s clock),

If any quote or payment aplyes, please let me know, This is not my Main ocupation, so as a hobbie, i must save some bucks to do the outfield payments.

For the last comment, I would like to know if in the process may be somebody can help me to install this script or block, pnAffiliate 1 from: http://biz-whiz.com/Downloads-req-viewdownloaddetails-lid-66-ttitle-pnAffiliate_1.html.1 which I see can help me to track if my students refeer my page to another friends, and increase their points. I see even PNphpBB2 forum is installed, but as many times I click on the admin page of the self installed Psot Nuke 7.5 gold, I can not find how to install it for the porpose to have a site just like this one.

I beg you all apollogies for my english, but as you all see, this is not my native language.

Thanking you all in advance.

B Regards.

Cosmo

P.S.

I am looking with a friend who knows a little bit of this php matters for some add on or module or something that allowes me to give points to my users, by answering questions, Answering questions based on tests I already have, I made 2 databases of questions, so they can learn BAsic Traffic Safety Concepts and answer that kind of questions, and in the other database I include easy questions, Like Traffic lights colors, Name of the public server who extinguish fires, and at the Fist level They answer 66% of the questions based on the 1st database and 33%of the 2nd one. ANd the percentages decrease and increase with the level increase (just 3 levels)

I send you this idea for people who works with children and looks for entretainning ideas, or want to contribute with their knowledge to thos project.

Thank you all again in advance.

Hi Cosmo...

Unfortunatly, I won't be the one that will be able to help you in all you ask as PostNuke and related areas and materials although easy, can be a long process for someone not having much knowledge about it.

I can help to some extent but I suggest you take a look at the manual given with PostNuke, the doc website and the official forums :

http://www.postnuke.com Official PostNuke Website

http://docs.postnuke.com Many manuals and documents here
http://docs.postnuke.com/module-pagesetter-main.html

http://forums.postnuke.com Official Support forums. This will probably be your best ressource for information, help and support.

There is also a PostNukePro Website (http://www.postnukepro.com) that was made to ask or hire someone to do a job.

The many modules you will find has a simple installation process wich is to upload the module to the modules folder of your PostNuke, go to the PostNuke administration panel then to the "Modules" administration page. To see the new module in the list, there is a "Regenerate link".
Then you are 2 clicks away (Initialize, Activate) from using the module.

Most of them has instructions in the pndocs folder you will find with the module.

The pnAffiliates module you are refering to has a readme.txt include in the zip. I'm not sure I could explain things better than it is already in the readme but if you have questions about it, you can ask them on the Official forum (http://forums.postnuke.com) or on the author's website : http://biz-whiz.com/PNphpBB2.html

With the hope you'll be able to go further in your quest and if you have questions on my work here, don't hesitate.
