What I've been doing... ?
Oh many things that I can assure you. Problem may that it wasn't for the "public".See the read more...
True, the projects progress bars didn't grow fast lately. And I apologize to anyone waiting for any of the things in the list.
The last months, (aside family affairs), I've create 6 new mods that were all for my professional job. They were not meant to be public and they will never be. Sorry...
However, those made a good practice to work with the pnRender and the last technology available for PostNuke. I already made the decision some time ago that all future work I will do (except pncUserPoints) will be for the pnRender.
This relieves me of some of the design work. I'm not a designer so I prefer to let you the users, choose the way the mods will looks like... and why not start a skin trends for mods ? He he !
The pncXF2BB2 ? As stated in a past article, the original xf2bb never worked quite well for me. Maybe I was too lazy to get it to work well... anyway. I'm a coder... professionally in a different field but a coder anyway. So I wanted to have a look at it and see if I can get... not necessarily a "better version"... only a version that I like, that does the job I want and be usefull to anyone.
And so I took every part of the xf2bb one by one, made them pnAPI and did some optimization. Like I showed in the stats announcing it, the mod can transfer 13000 posts without thinking about doing 1000 by 1000 or something like that.
I don't say it'll work for 30000 posts of course. But I did the test on a mirror of PostNuke-France.org and it worked. So I guess it's not a bad improvment.
That is the other reason why I did it. At PostNuke-France.org, it's been a long time we are discussing about moving to PNphpBB but the old convertor did not feel well with this so we abandon the idea until I had more time to make it work or until we had a convertor that wouldn't cost us too much energy.
This mod is almost done, it is simple just like the other one and it did (on a test site) the job on PostNuke-France... So I guess it'll be a nice thing to the public.
Like I said, almost everything comes from the old one, I never tried to hide that. pnAPI, optimization and pnRender porting is what I did.
Coming next...
Asides another custom module for someone I will have to do (not public) and may take quite a bit of my energy, the next project I will work on is the pncUserPoints and the pncGroups.
I want to finish the pncGroups to be over with it. You probably heard about the pnGroups wich does many things the same way. I don't have any problem with that and I also spoke to the author. We have made the decision on each side to go solo and not work together because of time constraints and because of the different ways and direction the 2 mods were taking. (Now don't let your imagination fool you, hum ?) And I was more near the end of porting my mod to the pnRender than the start and the pnGroups was in pnHTML so the decision would've been the kind of roll back or rewrite. And I didn't want to roll back or rewrite again. I guess it was maybe also a reason for mhalbrook (author).
As written in the projects guideline, the pncGroups is almost finish in the new pnRender way. I also will activate the leader feature and the plugin feature.
What will happen to it after that is up to you I guess. As for me, I don't know. But this next version will have a certain lifespan and I'll be able to work on other things.
And lastly, (but before finishing the pncGroups I guess), the pncUserPoints is also the next one. Unless I can't do anything before this weekend, I'll probably be on it this weekend.
With hope I can release the long due 0.14 with GD (if available) points bars and some of the other settings I mentioned in the past...
So that's it for now...
Stay tune ! And have fun !
Chestnut !
